On 31 July 2020, Canada released the COVID Alert smartphone app to help identify exposure to COVID-19. The app is not a COVID-19 radar or digital forcefield. COVID Alert is a valuable add-on to your efforts to decrease the impacts of the virus and help keep Canada’s virus numbers down. We are one on defeating this deadly and frustrating virus. Download and install the app today.
How do you install and use Canada’s COVID Alert? It’s easy! From the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, look up COVID Alert. Download and press install. Select English or Français. Allow the app to use Bluetooth. Select your province or territory. DONE! It’s now running in the background. You did it!!!
And I provide my review of the COVID Alert app to give insight to its strengths and shortfalls.
The more Canadians who use the app, the better chances we have of an early warning of having been exposed to the virus. COVID Alert is not perfect and there is room for improvements but it’s a great start and I look forward to all Canadian provinces and territories rolling it out.
Listen, keep up your personal COVID protocols to help keep you, your loved ones, your friends, your colleagues, and fellow Canadians safe. We’re not out of the woods yet on this crisis. Remember:
1. Keep physically distanced when possible
2. Wear a mask properly (to help contain your germs)
3. Wash your hands frequently and properly
4. Avoid gatherings, even if this sucks
5. Tell yourself that staying healthy is an ongoing effort
Keep enjoying your life responsibly during this time and remember your other better preparedness efforts:
